Encaustic
Paintings
Encaustic
paint is beeswax, pigment and resins, which are melted together and
applied in a molten state to a rigid surface like wood, metal or canvas.
I have even had very interesting results applying encaustic paints
on quilts. One has to work very
quickly with encaustics because the wax begins to harden as soon as
the brush leaves the palette. After
each layer of color or wax is put down, it must be fused together so
that the encaustic will not flake off when exposed to different temperatures. What I love the most about encaustic painting is that it is very
forgiving.
